11
"What need have I of all your sacrifices?" Says the
Lord. "I am sated with burnt offerings of rams, And suet of
Fatlings, and blood of bulls; and I have no delight in lambs and
he-goats.12
That you come to appear before Me - who asked that of you? Trample
My courts 13
no more; bringing oblations is futile, incense is offensive to Me.
New moon and Sabbath, proclaiming of solemnities, assemblies with
iniquity, I cannot abide. 14
Your new moons and fixed seasons
fill Me with loathing; They are become a burden to Me. I cannot
endure them. |
11
I am sick of
your sacrifices"
says the Lord.
"Don't bring me any more burnt
offerings!
I don't want the fat from your rams or other animals. I
don't want to see the blood from your offerings of bulls and rams and goats.12 Why do you keep parading through
my courts with you worthless sacrifices? 13 The
incense you bring me is a stench in my nostrils! Your celebrations
of the new moon and the Sabbath day, and your special days for fasting -
even your most pious meetings - are all sinful and false. I want
nothing more to do with them. 14 I hate all your festivals
and sacrifices, I cannot stand the sight of them! |
4 For
it is not possible for the blood of bulls and goats to take away sins.
5 That is why Christ, when he
came into the world, said, "You did not want
animal sacrifices and grain offerings. But you have given
me a body so that I may obey you. 6
No, you were not pleased with
animals burned on the alter or with other
offerings for sin. 7
Then
I said, 'Look, I have come to do your will, O God
-
just as it is written
about me in the Scriptures.'" |
Hosea
6:6 (Tanakh) |
Hosea
6:6
(NLT) |
Hebrews 10:8-9
(NLT) |
For
I desire goodness, not sacrifice; Obedience to God, rather than burnt
offerings.
|
I
want you to be merciful;
I don't want your sacrifices. I want you to know
God; that's more important than burnt offerings.
|
8 Christ said, "You did not want animal
sacrifices or grain offerings or animals burned on the altar or other
offerings for sin, nor were you pleased with them" (though they are
required by the law of Moses). 9 Then he added,
"Look, I have come to do your will."
He cancels the first covenant in order to establish
the second. and what God wants is for us to be made holy by the
sacrifice of the body of Jesus Christ once for all time. |

Psalms

Hebrews
10:18 |
7b
You gave me to understand that you do not desire sacrifice and meal
offering; You do not ask for burnt offering and sin offering. 8
Then I said, "See I will bring a scroll recounting what befell me. 9
To do what pleases you,
my
God, is my desire; Your teaching
is in my innermost parts. |
6 You take no
delight in sacrifices or offerings. Now that you have made me listen, I
finally understand --
You don't require burnt offerings or sin offerings
7b Then I said,
"Look I have come. And this has been written about me in your scroll;
8 I Take joy in doing your
will my God, for your law
is written on my heart." |
18
Now when sins have been forgiven, there is no need to offer any more
sacrifices
|
Psalms 51:18-19 (Tanakh) |
Psalms 51:16-17 |
|
18
You do not want me to bring
sacrifices; You do not desire burnt offering;19
True sacrifices to God is a contrite spirit; God you will not despise a
contrite and crushed heart.(? 21) |
16
You would not be pleased with
sacrifices, or I would bring them. If I brought you burnt a offering, you
would not accept it. 17 The sacrifice you want is a broken
spirit. A broken and repentant heart, O God, you will not despise. |
