A
DAY
WILL COME WHEN
I WILL MAKE A NEW COVENANT
For this is my blood which seals the
covenant between God and his people. It is
poured out to forgive the sins of many.

31
See, a time is coming - declares
the Lord-when I will make a new covenant with the House of Israel and the
house of Judah. 32
It will not be like the covenant I made with their fathers, when I
took them by the hand to lead them out of the land of Egypt, a covenant
which they broke, so that I rejected them-declares the Lord
|
31"The
day will come" says the Lord "when I will make a new covenant
with the people of Israel and Judah. 32 This covenant will not be
like the old one I made with their ancestors when I took them by the hand
and brought them out of the land of Egypt. They broke that covenant though
I loved them as a husband loves a wife" says the Lord
|
7
If the first covenant had been faultless, there would have been no need
for a second covenant to replace it. 8 But God himself found fault
with the old one when he said: " The day will come when I will make a
new covenant with the people of Israel and Judah. 9
This covenant will not be like
the one I made with their ancestors when I took them by
the hand and led them out of Egypt. They did not remain faithful to my
covenant, so I turned my back on them, says the Lord. 10 But this
is the new covenant I will make with the people of Israel on that day,
says the Lord: "I will put my laws in their minds so they will
understand them, and I will write them on their hearts so they will obey
them. I will be their God, and they will be my people. 11 and they
will not need to teach their neighbors, nor will they need to teach their
family, saying " You should know the Lord.' for everyone, from the
least to the greatest will already know me. 12 and I will forgive
their wrongdoings, and I will never again remember their sins." 13
When God speaks of a new covenant, it means he has made the first one
obsolete. It is now out of date and ready to be put aside.

Jeremiah 31:33-34 |
Hebrews
10:16-18 |
33
But
such is the covenant I will make
with the House of Israel after these days-declares the Lord.
I will put my teaching into their inmost being and inscribe it upon
their hearts, then I will be their God and they will be my people
34
No longer will they need to teach one another
and say to one
another, "Heed the LORD; for all of them to the greatest, shall heed
Me-declares the Lord
For I will forgive their iniquities, And remember their sins no more.
|
33
"But this is the new covenant I
will make with with the people of Israel on that day" says the Lord.
" I will put my laws in their minds, and I will write them down on their
hearts, I will be their God and they will be my people.
34
And they will not need to teach their neighbors, nor will they need to
teach their family, saying you should know the Lord. " For everyone,
from the least to the greatest, will already know me, says the Lord.
"
and
I will forgive their wickedness and will never again remember their
sins" |
16
"This
is the new covenant I will make with my people on that day, says the Lord:
I will put my laws in their hearts so they will understand them, and
I
will write them on their minds so they will obey them."
17
Then he adds,
I will never again
remember their sins and lawless deeds."
18 Now
when sins have been forgiven,
there is no need to offer any more sacrifices.

8
Christ said, "you did not want animal sacrifices or grain offerings or
animals burned on the alter or other
offerings for sin, nor were you pleased with
them (though they were required by the law
of Moses)
9
Then he added, "Look,
I have come to do your will."
He cancels the first covenant in order to
establish the second.10

Then he took a loaf of bread; and when he had thanked God for it, he broke
it into pieces and gave it to the disciples saying " This is my body,
given for you. Do this in remembrance of me." 20 After
supper he took another cup of wine and said
"This
wine is the token of God's new covenant to save you-- an agreement sealed
with the blood I will pour out for you." |

24 and when He had given
thanks, He broke it and said, "take, eat, this is My body which is
broken for you; do this in remembrance of Me." 25 In the same
manner He also took the cup after supper saying
"This cup is the new covenant in My blood. This do, as often as you
drink it, in remembrance of Me." 26 For as often as
you eat this bread and drink this cup, you proclaim the Lord's death
until He comes. |
