5
And now the LORD has resolved--
He who formed me in the womb
to be
His servant--to bring back Jacob to Himself, That Israel may be
restored to Him, and I have been honored in the sight of the LORD, my God
has been my strength. 6 For He has said: "It is too little that
you should be my servant in that I raise up the tribes of Jacob and restore
the survivors of Israel: I will also
make you a light of nations, That My salvation may reach the ends of the
earth."
|
5
And now the Lord speaks--he
who formed me in my mother's womb to be his servant,
who
commissioned me to bring his people of Israel back to him. The Lord
has honored me, and my God has given me strength. 6 He says,
"You will do more than restore the people of Israel to me. I
will make you a light to the Gentiles, and you will bring my salvation to
the ends of the earth."
|
46 Then Paul and Barnabas
spoke out boldly and declared,
"It
was necessary that this Good News from God be given first to you Jews.
But since you have rejected it and judged yourselves unworthy of eternal
life--well, we will offer it to the Gentiles.
47
For
this is as the Lord commanded us when He said, ' I have made you a light to
the Gentiles, to bring salvation to the farthest corners of the
earth'."

6 God sent a
man, John the Baptist, 7 to tell about the light so that everyone might
believe because of his testimony. 8 John himself was not the light; he was
simply a witness to tell about the light.
9 The one who is the true light, who
gives light to everyone was coming into the world. |
